Business activity is a feature of everyone’s life. As consumers and producers, employees, employers, or self-employed, savers and investors and as importers and exporters, people throughout the world engage in a web of business activities to design, produce, market, deliver and support a range of goods and services.
Business Studies encompasses the theoretical and practical aspects of business and management in contexts which students will encounter in life. The course provides rigour and depth and lays an excellent foundation for students either in further tertiary study or in future employment.
Case studies are embedded in the course to provide a stimulating and relevant framework for students to apply theoretical concepts encountered in the business environment. Students investigate business establishment and operations and utilise a range of business information to assess and evaluate business performance.
Students completing this course will develop general and specific skills including research, analysis, problem-solving, decision-making, critical thinking and communication. These skills enhance students’ confidence and ability to participate effectively, not only as members of the business world, but as informed citizens dealing with issues emanating from business activity that impact on their lives.

Homework
Homework is a means of consolidation, extension or enrichment of the work that is studied in Business Studies lessons. Homework is set regularly and is a compulsory part of a student's workload. Homework is followed up regularly, and students found to be neglecting to complete their homework will have a note sent home (N-award warning letter), informing their parents/carers of the situation, and encouraging completion of the work in question.
